How it works
Random values come from crypto.getRandomValues. Values that would tilt the result toward some choices are rejected and redrawn, so each character and word is equally likely to be picked.
Passphrases pick words from a built-in list of 260 words, a subset of the EFF short word list. Each word adds log2(260), or about 8.0 bits of entropy. Your current selection of 4 words gives about 32.1 bits from the words alone.
Nothing is sent to a server. Passwords and passphrases are generated in your browser, and the generated values never leave your device.

Is an online generator safe?
This one generates locally in your browser, and nothing you generate is sent to a server. For any other generator, look for the same guarantee before you rely on its output.
